Clear vision in foggy weather

Is it possible for us to observe? Observe things and people as they are rather than judging them with the glasses of our opinions and biases. Probably that is the most difficult thing in this world. I have often wondered why it is so difficult to see the reality as it is.

Probably the first and foremost reason is that since childhood, our mind has been trained to live in falsity. Society knits stories each day and sells the same to us. The stories are sold in each social interaction, in each function and cere, only, each festival and each day through the newspapers. Each time we interact with kids, we somehow instill the sense of right and wrong, desired and undesired very strongly without allowing them to see the reality as it is. We are probably too afraid. Afraid that they will get attracted to bad company and drugs and harm themselves. Due to this fear, we tell them that so many things are strict no.

Can we see two movements here? Firstly, we do not believe in kids' basic intelligence and somehow believe that their natural choices will be bad for them. Secondly, we do not have faith in the "play of consciousness" and have a very narrow vision of what life is. Due to these two factors, we do not allow kids to observe and impose our rights and wrongs, desired and undesired on them so forcefully that they never develop the fine faculty of observation.

As they grow old, their mind is attacked by the brigade of friends and "well-wishers". Since all the friends have already been conditioned not to observe, like a herd they take support from each other and follow each other. The "well-wishers" have never understood what well-being is. They tell the kids what they know. Get a good job, study what is remunerative, have fun after getting a good job, and so on.

Newspapers are full of advertisements where wealth and prosperity are being sold very aggressively. Newspapers, television, and social media create a great illusion of money being the ultimate source of happiness. Every small and big happiness is available for sale in the market of happiness. The underlying pain and emptiness are being hidden quite intelligently by the salesmen of their products.

In such an ecosystem, how do we expect the kids to observe? To see the reality as it is. That is why parenting in this age is a real challenge. Parents are also products of the same society. They have the same conditioning and fears. Even if some of them, off and on, try to be immune from the "pandemic of illusion", it is really quite challenging to remain distant from this universal madness. It's difficult to reassure them that they are going in the right direction. Each time such parents are made to believe that they are the biggest enemies of their own kids.

In spite of all these challenges, I feel that this world is the real laboratory. If there is a consciousness, the same has to be experienced in this world. If there is a possibility of observation, that has to happen in the real world full of all sorts of conflicts. Krishna did go out of the battlefield to give the teachings of Geeta to Arjuna. He taught it then and there at the battlefield of Kurukshetra. That is the real challenge. Once we accept this challenge, we start finding ways under the guidance of the consciousness.

  1. It's very difficult to save our kids from glamour of world. But it's only Sanskar (संस्कार) can show the correct path.
